Regulation of Pesticide Labels
Pesticide product labels are legal documents. This statement is found on all registered pesticide product labels in the United States:
Most label statements are regulated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Although pesticide manufacturers are allowed to control some elements of their pesticide labels, the majority of the label content is specifically regulated by the EPA. The regulations are intended to make labels consistent, easy to understand and clearly describe the proper use of the product, including the precautions taken when using the product. The EPA Label Review Manual provides guidance on how labels must be developed to be acceptable for use.
